Commit to Inclusive Listening in Your School
We're inviting schools to move away from “Whole Body Listening” and towards inclusive listening practices that affirm the diverse ways students show engagement, process information, and learn. By completing this pledge, you're letting your community know that your school is committed to becoming a safer, more inclusive place for neurodivergent students.
To make this shift meaningful, schools will need to commit to the following actions:
Review Force 4 Good campaign resources to understand how different brains and bodies process information
Stop using Whole Body Listening as a behaviour expectation or engagement measure
Adopt a resource such as Bumper The Whole Body Learner that recognises and affirms varied forms and strategies for paying attention and processing information
Share inclusive listening practices with all educators and staff & ensure they cease using Whole Body Listening
Seek guidance from someone knowledgable in neurodiversity affirming practice if unsure about any aspect of implementation of inclusive listening
